Michal Selinger

After completing his studies at the Prague Photography School, he starts working for the cultural magazine Exit as editor and photographer. He publishes photographs in the magazine CIGAR. He photographs for the Misery Loves Theatre Company, and in 1999 he creates a photo documentary from Pražské Quadrienále 99, an international stage and costume design show, for the Theatre Institute, Prague. At that time, he starts working for independent productions as a photographer of low-budget films. Soon, he is asked to document productions of some major production companies (Stillking Films, Flying Colours Film Company, and Target Pictures). He has had independent exhibitions at Globe Praha (1998), U Božího Mlýna (1999) and in Klatovy (2000).

Presently, he is creating a brochure introducing the company Panavision in the Czech Republic, and preparing a collection of photographs of expressive dance for an exhibition in the Plasy Convent. He also works on the “Menhirs in Bohemia” project and on a free cycle entitled “For Claude Monet.”

“I think that the only thing that forces me to make photographs is the fascinating participation in the play of light and time. Man is captured by an indescribable ecstasy which transcends into quiet, resolved concentration allowing to commingle with the photographed object, and to the take part in the PLAY.”
